It's Carnival Time!

We took Hunter and Ava Claire to the Krewe of Alla Mardi Gras parade on Saturday. They had a blast! Hunter LOVES going to parades! This was Ava's very first Mardi Gras parade since it was too cold last year. She liked it, especially catching candy! Fortunately the weather held out and we were able to take them. It's amazing watching Hunter yell, "Throw me something Mister!" He really gets into it!

What's a Dad to do when it is freezing cold outside and raining? Well, Hunter got to go to the New Orleans Fairgrounds for an introduction to horse racing and gambling. Billy has been promising Hunter a trip to see the horses race for a while now. Hunter loved every minute of it! He got to pick his own horses (by the names that he liked!) and he got to feast on everything in sight. Hunter had a wonderful time and came home with money to put in his piggy bank!

Ava's First Pony Tail

I wanted to show off Ava Claire's first pony tail. She DOES NOT like for her hair to be fixed so this is a big deal to actually get her hair pulled up. It is a messy pony tail, but I feel like this is a big accomplishment for mom! She is just getting to the point where she will actually keep a bow in her hair for a longer amount of time. You think when you have a girl that they will automatically allow you to play with their hair. Nope, not Ava Claire! Our baby girl is growing up so fast!

Tonight Hunter and Billy got the opportunity to attend the Les Miles show. For those of you who may not be an LSU fan, he is the head football coach for the Tigers. They got to sit at the front, VIP table, and see up close lots of LSU fun! Hunter got to mingle with the cheerleaders (Billy said he was very shy), listen to the LSU band, visit with Mike the Tiger, and watch Coach Miles as he gave his radio show. Hunter was so excited and enjoyed every minute of this exciting opportunity! He got to meet Coach Miles and he received an autographed football from him! WOW!!

We had a very quiet New Year's eve. We stayed at home and grilled steaks and just spent time with Hunter and Ava Claire. It is such a challenge to stay awake till midnight. Of coarse the kids were in bed right after 8:00 and Billy bailed on me at about 10:30. I stayed up and watched the ball drop with Dick Clark. Such a wild night!!
